Kind of Experience: Escape Room

Taking place in the West, you and your bored townie friends stumble upon an abandoned, Wild West ghost town. After overstaying your welcome, you realize that the town is haunted by vengeful, trapped ghosts. The ghosts trap you in the town with them, demanding that you set them free by bringing their cause of death to light. Only then will they set you free. This puts you in a situation where you must explore the rest of the town and piece together what happened to all of these people. As you go through books, letters, photographs, hidden passages, and even being shown glimpses of the past, you come to realize that you might end up with the same fate as them as you discover what made this town a ghost town. To make it even worse, that reason is trapped in the town with you. A full prop list can be found in the slideshow, the prop sketches were done by me.
This project demonstrates the usage of active, innovative set decoration through the inclusion of the flashlight interactives. The guests will be given a flashlight by the ghosts of the town that has the power to reveal events from the past when shined onto a reflective surface. When shined onto a mirror, the flashlight will reveal what happened in front of the mirror. When shined onto a glass window, it will reveal what happened in the room on the other side. With this tool, guests will be able to put together the story and free themselves from the town.
